Today we had breakfast at the hotel. The food is almost similar with some slight changes to the side dishes for the porridge. Good thing my beef floss is still served!! =D
We had a quick breakfast as we were rushing to the Taipei Main Station to catch the high speed rail to Tai Chung and then the bus to Sun Moon Lake.
Me at the XiMen MTR station going to Taipei Main Station (I am wearing a new shirt dress I bought from Wu Fen Pu =D According to the salesgirl, its from Korea =D and the material is super nice =D Sit on the train and bus for hours also its not really crinkled!!! Just a bit only)
Photo with the High Speed Rail to Tai Chung
Do you know that with the High Speed Rail it only takes us 1 hour to reach Tai Chung from Taipei?? The distance is about 6 hour’s drive one (if I remembered correctly from what honeydrew told me – my geography not good mar!!). Anyway I slept all the way to Tai Chung =D
From Tai Chung station, we took a bus to Sun Moon Lake (SML) which was about 2 hours ride!!!! *ish* I thought its only 1 hour!!! Anyhow I slept most of the way there too =D
When we reached SML, we were veryyyyy hungry!! Honeydrew said that SML is famous for this fish called 'chung thong yu' - president fish!! Apparently the president went to SML and had this fish and liked it so much and it’s named the president fish!! As I did not do much research on where to eat in SML, Honeydrew randomly chose a restaurant that serves president fish and it was a great choice!!! YUMMY YUMMY
Camwhoring while waiting for our food *hungry* *hungry*
We ordered bitter gourd fried with salted egg and its damn yummy!!!! Soooooo tasty!!! Don't know if we were just too hungry or if it really is that good but I think it is both!! Honeydrew also wanted a braised pork knuckle (fatty likes all the fatty food) *hehe* Lastly, of course we ordered the president fish too =D One fish but cooked into 2 dishes. The fish is steam in a sauce with huge black beans and the fish's head and tail are used to boil miso tofu soup. The fish meat is yummy but there’s just toooooooooo much bones!!!! Small tiny bones!!! Makes it very tedious to eat!! *Haha eat also lazy* Honeydrew was also chocked by accidentally swallowing one of the tiny bones!!!!! After I perform CPR on him, then he was ok *haha joking* He was ok after he vomited out the bone!! Anyway, the soup was quite yummy too but couldn't taste much of the fish....... maybe the miso taste is too strong dy!! Should have opted for the normal soup (not miso soup)!

After our delicious and satisfying lunch, we checked in to our hotel which was nearby. We actually booked a "Lover's Package" =D It came with a lake view room, breakfast for 2, boat ride around the lake for 2, a special gift (which they say they ran out of!! *cheat my money!!*) and also voucher to make our own pottery (which we didn't go).
Though the room was not as nice as we expected it to be (from the pictures on the internet as it is a bit old) but our view from the room is really breathtaking!!!
Views from our room =D
Me camwhoring at our room's balcony
After that, we decided to take a walk to the lake area near our hotel while waiting to go on the boat ride around the lake at 4pm. SML is really veryyyyyy scenic =D Oh and they have got nice bubble tea too!! They have a local tea that is made into bubble tea and its quite yummy. The shop is just opposite our hotel =D In one day I drank 3 cups of bubble tea =D I lovey bubble tea =D
Then it started to get gloomy and we decided to go back to our hotel before it starts raining (protect my coach bag from the rain water ok!! *kaka*)
Honeydrew making funny faces to entertain me at the hotel lobby while waiting for the boat ride.
Luckily it didn't rain and the sun actually came back out once in a while..... It did drizzle a bit during the boat ride but when we reached another stop to take photos, the rain also stopped =D I think the boat ride is really worth it lor (though its part of the package we took) The whole boat ride lasted about 1.5hours and we stopped at various nice spots for nice photos opportunity =D
Us on the boat =D
Honeydrew..... what is he thinking??
After I took a nice emo pic of him I also want one myself and tried to pose like him =P Oh and see my hair - long big curls (though not very curly)
More photos of us on the boat =D
Then we arrived at the first stop to take photos...... so beautiful lar SML!!!!!!!!
Then we got back to our boat for the next stop. By then the sun is setting soon and SML just gets more beautiful.......
Before our next stop, the tour guide told us that there is an 'ah ma' (aunty) selling herbal tea egg at the small hill on this small island that we are stopping. This ah ma has been selling herbal tea egg there since she was 18 years old till now!!! And she is about 80+ now!! *gosh so many years!!* I don't know why but at that point of time it just reminded me of aunty li yein MUAHAHAHAHA cause she damnnnnn like to eat the herbal tea egg and can eat like 7-8 eggs at one time one!!! And aunty + herbal tea egg just reminds me of her..... Then I imagine her selling eggs there..... kakakaka but she probably will eat all the eggs and there’s none left to sell!!!! MUAHAHAHAHA
Us at SML
The aunty selling herbal tea egg =D
Honeydrew peeling an egg for me =D We had one each =)
Then we walked up the small hill for a really nice view of SML =D
Then after that we got back up on the boat for the remaining of the tour around the lake. As that day was quite cloudy, we couldn't see a nice sunset but still its very beautiful!!!!! Feel so peaceful in this small SML town..... A big difference from Taipei =D
That ends our boat ride =D I was expecting a crappy tour since it is free but was happy that the tour was quite comprehensive and we did tour round most parts of the lake =D
Anyway after the boat ride, we hired a cab to visit Wen Wu Temple as it also have a beautiful view of the lake from the temple area. I remembered when I went to Taiwan 11 years ago in 1997, we visited SML as well and we watched the sunset for the Wen Wu Temple area. I can still remember clearly that the sun was sooooo huge and so round when it set at the lake horizon...... That is actually my little memory of SML, Taiwan!!

This was where I watched the sunset 11 years ago but this time the sky is too cloudy and gloomy to be able to see the sun clearly!! =(
Us @ SML
Random shots around Wen Wu Temple area
The cab driver was also very friendly. He and honeydrew started chatting and they talked about everything even to politics in Taiwan!! *ish* Then after Wen Wu Temple, the cab driver brought us to the SML town and also to visit this shop that sells a lot of local products like tea leaves, honey and etc. The shop owner was so friendly and nice that she offer us to wear the aboriginal traditional clothes for photos and even take our photos for us... Since she was sooo nice we felt oblige to buy something from her shop (I think this is their tactics to get sales!!)
After that, we went back to the hotel and found a shop nearby for dinner. I don't know why but I was craving for fried rice!! *haha* and the shop actually does not sell fried rice.... However, we saw them serving fried rice to the table next to us which is an ang moh group. Hence we asked the waitress again and she said they specially made it for them as they have requested for it and hence we also requested for the fried rice!! But the food in this shop was so-so only.... I would say it’s the worse I have eaten during my whole Taiwan trip!! *haha*
food not nice picture also smaller *muahahaha* we ordered the egg omellete with salted radish again but of course shin yeh one is nicer =P
This was the first time we were able to go back to the hotel to watch TV and sleep early! The pass few days we only reached hotel about midnight..... SML really have nothing to do at night (if it does maybe we didn't know about it!!) as it is really a small town. Anyhow, it was a welcoming change as we were quite exhausted from the previous few days.....
